Dr. Miroslav B. Zotovic
He was in the top 1 percent of his class in medical school in Belgrade, Serbia. Attracted to medicine as early as childhood, Dr. Miroslav Zotovic is now sharing his skill in the art and science of healing with the residents of Aiken.

After graduating from medical school and completing his Internship in Serbia, Dr. Zotovic continued his training at New York University's Lenox Hill Hospital. There he completed a three-year residency in internal medicine and a two-year fellowship in pulmonary diseases. Then, he went on to complete yet another fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he spent one year in critical care. Dr. Zotovic has taught clinical pediatrics in Yugoslavia; participated in the International Labor Organization's Disability Project in Geneva, Switzerland; and published numerous medical articles.

What is it about being a pulmonary specialist that appeals to Dr. Zotovic? Seeing results in the quality of patients' lives. And building a rapport with patients and their families. Communication is important in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the chest. Patients need to know that the physician cares enough to be a good listener. Patients also need to know precisely what to do to restore health and improve their quality of life.

When Dr. Zotovic isn't practicing medicine, he's likely to be at home with his family. And since he's not the only doctor in the house, there's rarely a dull moment. Dr. Zotovic is married to Danijela Zotovic, MD, a physician who specializes in Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology. She practices with Aiken Internal Medicine Associates on the Aiken Regional Medical Centers campus. The Zotovics have three young boys, including twins. Dr. Zotovic's personal interests include travel, reading, basketball, soccer and swimming. And we're glad that he'll be enjoying those activities in Aiken.
